10 Other Uses for a Pumpkin Shaped Bowl in Your Home

Here’s how I added a touch of fall in our bathroom with a pumpkin soup bowl that also serves a functional purpose. At the end of the post, I’ll give you ten more ways to repurpose it, as well as sources for other lidded bowls that are perfect for the holidays!
In case you didn’t know, I’m no Betty Crocker. But, I sure did like this beautiful white pumpkin soup bowl with a lid that I found at Target the other day. Since I’m not about to whip up some homemade pumpkin soup and serve it in its very own pumpkin-shaped bowl, I found a really great alternative use for it!
One compromise I had to make in our bathroom was allowing the Q-tips to be stored on the counter. For whatever reason, that’s my husband’s preference. They were still in this old glass container because I hadn’t found anything prettier to put them in yet. Since I’m going to be staring at it everyday, it should at least be cute, right?
I swapped out the containers and this is what we’re left with:
So much prettier!
My go-to for creating a balanced space is using a background of white, natural textured accents, something living/dried, and mixed metals.
I love how the brass sconces and mirrors add warmth to this space.

Since we’re talking about repurposing decor, I thought I’d mention that these hand towel holders are not meant for hand towels at all. They are actually toilet paper holders! I couldn’t seem to find any towel bars or rings that were sleek enough for my taste. So, I tried these out and they do the trick!
Another relatively new addition to our bathroom are these pretty and affordable gold towel hooks from IKEA. I did have to wait several weeks for them to be restocked and delivered, but they’re such a close match to the other fixtures in this space that the wait was worth it.
You may have also noticed the art on the wall to the right. I framed them in these light wood frames with white matting that are also from IKEA. I like that you can remove the matting and just use a large piece of art when you want a change. I just may do that for the holidays. These digital downloads are buy 1 get 1 free right now! I just print them out at a Fed-Ex store right down the road from me and then frame them. Super easy and inexpensive!
The dried branch is from our neighbor’s giant tree that hangs over our backyard. Don’t ask me what it’s called - I have no idea! But it dropped a few branches onto the ground after a rainstorm and, as usual, I found a purpose for them. ;)
As promised, here are 5 other ways you could use this pumpkin soup bowl in a bathroom:
Put loose hair ties and bobby pins in it
To hold cotton balls or cotton pads for makeup removal
Store bath salts
To house foam makeup applicators
Keep matches
This dish was sitting empty in my kitchen for decorative purposes before I brought it into the bathroom. But moving it got me thinking. Here are 5 other things you could use it for in the kitchen that do not involve homemade pumpkin soup. ;)
Holding sugar packets in your coffee station
As a toothpick holder
Keep candy corn in it (or your other fall faves)
Nut dish (for almonds, candied pecans, etc.)
Store breath mints
